The Friendship Ivoiro–Japanese Bypass Project is a joint initiative between Côte d’Ivoire and Japan aimed at easing traffic congestion in Abidjan.
Phase 1 was completed in 2019, with an investment of 25 billion FCFA.
Phase 2, inaugurated in August 2024 with a budget of 28 billion FCFA, features a 760-meter overpass named the “Shinzo Abe Interchange”, including two branches that connect to major roads.
The project significantly improves traffic flow and contributes to local economic development.
